Making art for those who want to feel dope and inspired
Who is GGOI?
Why art? Why art? What does it do for me, and for people around me? Questions I’ve been asking myself since the beginning of my journey as an interdisciplinary artist
Almost 7 months ago, I made a huge life change. I quit my full-time job in the nonprofit industry to pursue my passion for becoming an artist. How crazy does that sound? To other artists, pssh that is what happened to them. completely normal. But not everyone reading this is an artist, and I want to share my story with everyone.
So yeah. Art. Art brings so much meaning to my life. It helps me cope with life’s grueling lessons and helps me understand emotions and identity. Art is within clothes I style, amidst food, drinks, hobbies, movies, and music I love. Whether it was writing in my journal, sketching, or creating a dope outfit, arts always there. The artist in me truly began to take its full form while transitioning into the adult world. I was about to be a WSU grad, head into my 9 to 5 job, life was consistent. Though, something felt off. I felt mixed emotions about my future and was starting to feel a new fiery passion in me in my final semester art classes. I was always putting in the most effort, creating as much as I could and challenging myself to the highest extent. I felt like I was diving headfirst into a space where it all screamed my name.
I knew I was good at it. I only had so much time. I began intensely regretting not taking art as a minor or even a major. Though I was excited to be an adult, I feared I was leaving a part of me undiscovered.
Fast forward 6months post grad, an old friend of mine called me and we decide to reunite and get together by making pottery together. Amidst our lengthy conversations and art creation, my friend asks me “If you wanted to do anything for the rest of your life... what would you do? Forget money, logic, all of that… what do you want?” My face lit up and I said ART, but I wondered how I could make that work, my brain inserted every judgement and assumption people make about artists. “If you know what you want, go after it. Life is too short to have regrets on something we never tried. Let’s make this happen, if you truly want this you will succeed.”
After that day, I truly never looked back. I have realized I cannot imagine my life without art. Each day I am reminded why it is so important to me and why it’s truly my calling. Art helps me understand and cope with difficult emotions, processing systematic/political issues, self-expression/identity, and relationships in life. Art makes me want to live and connect with other people. WHERE WOULD ANY OF US BE WITHOUT ART?
So long story short, I have taken that risk, that leap of faith as some might call it. My journey is already showing results. I applied to CCS in Detroit, Michigan, recieved a scholarship for my creative and academic achievements. In preparation for degree number 2, I am working in the restaurant industry to save money while continuing to make art. As well, I am making a name for myself during this process.
It is a long hustling journey, and I will do whatever it takes to get there. I can feel my success and visualize it (frightful and exciting wrapped up into a bundle). I hope you join me on this journey to finding success in my passion to becoming a full-time artist. Your support aids my fuel to push for GGOI greatness.

Dope to me is a fun word to talk about things that people find cool. Cool artwork, cool music, cool movies, cool conversations, cool clothes, and so much more. Dope to me is a feeling of excitement, confidence, and boldness. I want myself and everyone around me to feel that way about themselves and the people and things which surround them.
Inspiration plays the role of a spark/light bulb in your mind. It might look like putting together a dope outfit. It could be an image in your mind on what to cook for dinner that you know will taste dope. An inspirational role model in your life that pushes you to get up and work hard everyday. Regardless of what the inspiration is, everyone feels inspiration and has the chance to feel dope about what those inspirations do for them.

Feeling dope and inspired is important to me because it allows for real and raw expression in multiple forms. Expression through inspiration is limitless and has the fluidity to change and evolve into new, dope, and deeper meanings over time. Inspiration can be that one goal you want to achieve, something that inspires you to get up everyday. Inspiration helps you pursue that job you love and want, the major you choose in school, or the artists/role models that help you heal through difficult times in your life.
Sometimes inspiration is negative, it can come from heartbreak, not passing a huge exam, losing a job, family trauma, an overall bad day, or other life experiences that are physically and mentally hard. Those experiences, whether good or bad, inspire expression. I want to create dope and inspiring pieces for all those things.
Inspiration motivates us to express and dig into ourselves to find our identity.
My pieces explore not only inspirations, but emotions, life experiences, identity, and humanity as a whole.

I am a multidisciplinary artist that works with jewelry/metalsmithing, ceramics, painting with acrylic, and dabbles here and there into fashion and collaging.
I do not like to feel limited with my creativity. I enjoy exploring through different mediums. I am furthering my skills through self practice and educational courses/degrees.
